We are pleased to announce a call for artists for a Special Issue dedicated to toy cameras photography.
All you need to do is select your best 10 images and write something about the camera you used. The images should be at least 1000×1000 px @ 72 dpi JPEG.
Archive the lot and send as attachments to contribute@squaremag.org before FEB 15 2013. The artists selected will be published in March.

hello! do you consider polaroid (sx70 as it is square!) as a toycamera?
thanks!

Est-ce qu’il faut un thème d’ensemble ?
@Alex B, No, pas vraiment, simplement vos meilleures images.
@matteo, ooooh, I don’t really think so, but I’ll ask the others. I mean, a toy camera for me is a box made out of plastic wit a couple of button and working on film. Polaroids are a breed apart I would say, a kind of special type of cameras.
Hi, bonjour,
What about instagram or other cellphone images? I would assume the answer is also no but wanted to verify.
Merci.

I think we are going to go the analogue route on this one. As is te case with for Polaroid, I feel that cellphone photography is a genre in its own right. We’ll probably do a square phone images issue at some point. You could also submit your work to the regular issue you know.
Bonsoir !
When we write something about the camera we used….just a couple words to identify the camera used in each image? Or an official statement about the camera(s) we used for all 10 of them, and why, or other info about using them?
Is it OK to use more than one camera in the 10?

@Diane K, A couple of words, or maybe a few more. Maybe the film too. Or an introduction to the series. It’s up to you, as long as it is no longer than 300 words. And yes, you can use more than just one toy camera, as long as all the images are square. Hope that helps.
Hey Christophe,
How many artist will be selected and did i understand it right? The “prize” is the publication of the photographs in a special squaremag issue in march?
Thanks.
Cathleen

Hello Cathleen. We do not know how many artists will be selected yet. As for the prize, there isn’t really any. It is not a competition, but rather a call to artists and yes, the selected people will be published in a special Toy issue.
Hi Christophe,
can we submit different series of 10 pictures?
Thanks,
scarlett
